A couple months ago, Jussie Smollett, a Gay Black actor on a TV series, claimed that he was attacked by two White men wearing MAGA hats. White people and Trump supporters were demonized yet again as the liberal media piled on.
Chicago police wasted hundreds if not thousands of man hours trying to find the evil Trump-supporting racists.
Eventually two Nigerian brothers came forward and said that Smollett had paid them $3,500 to help him stage the phony hate crime attack.
Smollett was charged with 16 felonies for lying to police, filing a false police report, causing police to waste resources on his hoax, etc., etc.
Pressure from liberal Democrat politicians, including Rahm Emanuel, however has resulted in the dropping of these charges despite the glaring evidence against Smollett. Some weasel-worded statement mentioned the police need to focus on “more serious crimes.” Since when does someone get a “pass” on filing a false police report and wasting a fortune in police resources? If you don’t pay a parking ticket or a speeding ticket in Chicago, do you think the authorities would give you a pass since there are more important crimes to prosecute?
A Fox News article reports “The stunning decision by the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office to drop all 16 felony charges against “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett in his alleged hate crime hoax is “almost unheard of,” Judge Andrew Napolitano said Tuesday.”
“The Fox News senior judicial analyst said on ‘America’s Newsroom’ soon after the news broke that it seems like the government asked the court to dismiss its own indictment.”
“’Quite frankly, this is almost unheard of,’ Napolitano said…”
If a left-wing activist breaks some laws pulling off a hoax to try to increase White Guilt and to demonize the Right, this is no big deal, and he may get a pass even if he’s caught red-handed.
This is how ridiculous and biased our legal system has become in 2019.
