Just what sort of shape is the US in after seven years of rule by Barack Obama? Donald Trump will tell you that “we don’t win anymore,” but what do people in other countries, like Russia think of the state of the Union?
An article from RT.com reports “The United States is in decline. While not all major shocks to the system will be devastating, when the right one comes along, the outcome may be dramatic.”
“Not all explosives are the same. We all know you have to be careful with dynamite. Best to handle it gently and not smoke while you’re around it. Semtex is different. You can drop it. You can throw it. You can put it in the fire. Nothing will happen. Nothing until you put the right detonator in it, that is. To me, the US – and most of the supposedly free West – increasingly looks like a truck being systematically filled with Semtex.”
“But it’s easy to counter cries of alarm with the fact that the truck is stable – because it’s true: you can hurl more boxes into the back without any real danger. Absent the right detonator, it is no more dangerous than a truckload of mayonnaise. But add the right detonator and you’re just one click away from complete devastation.”
“We can see how fragile the U.S. is now by considering just four tendencies…”
The state of the US is fragile. Our economy is almost $20 trillion in debt, and eventually no one, not even the Chinese will want to lend us anymore money when there is so little chance of those loans ever being repaid. Once we’ve hit our debt limit, all bets are off. Congress literally doesn’t know how to balance a budget. Imagine the rioting that might occur if welfare and Section 8 housing is cut overnight. A panic on Wall Street and a wholesale financial meltdown could easily follow.
Add to that America’s worsening racial problems. Blacks have been getting more restless. Riots and civil disturbances are happening more often including general lawless behavior and random attacks especially in Baltimore, Philadelphia and Chicago, which seem to be leading the country in Black crime.
Russia Today (RT.com) is similar to the old Pravda news agency from the Soviet days. It’s pretty much the official mouthpiece of the Kremlin, and their articles reflect official opinion.
In this case, I’d say the Russians have got us pegged.
