Despite the continued presence of the closet Marxist, Barry Soetoro (aka Barack Obama) in the Oval Office, a vast majority of Americans love their guns and are not going to give them up because some prissy elitist liberals tell them they should.
An article from FreeBeacon.com reports: “The FBI conducted a record number of background checks driven by firearms sales for the month of November, indicating that gun sales were at an all time high for the seventh month in a row. The Bureau processed 2,243,030 checks through the National Instant Criminal Background Check System in November, an increase of 236,111 checks over the previous record set in 2012. Background checks have continually set monthly records since May.”
Assuming each check represents a sale, that’s two and a quarter million more firearms entering civilian hands in November, the majority of them almost certainly White hands. Not too shabby!
The article notes “The numbers were fueled in part by record sales performed on Black Friday. The FBI did 175,754 checks no that day alone. Since all firearms transactions done through licensed gun dealers, including all new gun purchases, require a background check, the number of checks done in a month is considered a reliable measure of gun sales. However, the standard does not represent a one to one calculation for a number of reasons. Federal law and most state laws do not require a background check on sales of used guns between private parties. Additionally, some states perform FBI background checks on those who apply for gun carry permits.”
The actual number of new guns may be somewhat smaller due to various statistical anomalies in the system, so let’s say another two million new guns, since private sales are more lateral transfers and don’t increase the actual number of weapons in private hands. Still, that’s a big increase in new guns.
The liberal campaign to disarm Americans through their attempted exploitation of mass shootings is backfiring on them in a big way. The more Obama and his Justice Department yap about seizing or banning guns, the more gun sales go up.
The NRA, Colt, Remington, Ruger, Smith and Wesson and other manufacturers ought to present an industry award to Barry and Loretta Lynch and the loons at Salon Magazine, as the best thing that ever happened to gun ownership in America.
