Venezuela, Here We Come

Venezuela food line

Venezuela for years has been ruled by the kind of Marxism Lite which the Democrats want to impose on this country. They are now demonstrating a fact which was proven as far back as 1919 under Lenin: Marxist societies can’t even feed themselves without outside help from the capitalist West.

Venezuela of course is full of mixed race individuals –the kind that Obama and John Boehner want to give an Amnesty to. For some reason millions of liberals and moderates can’t understand that the more America fills up with Third World people, the more America will become a Third World nation. There’s no special magic about the US that will save us from turning into Venezuela if we foolishly lose the White majority that made America a productive and creative First World nation.

An article on Bloomberg News reports: “Shoppers thronged grocery stores across Caracas today as deepening shortages led the government to put Venezuela’s food distribution under military protection. Long lines, some stretching for blocks, formed outside grocery stores in the South American country’s capital as residents search for scarce basic items such as detergent and chicken. ‘I’ve visited six stores already today looking for detergent — I can’t find it anywhere,’ said Lisbeth Elsa, a 27-year-old janitor, waiting in line outside a supermarket in eastern Caracas . ‘We’re wearing our dirty clothes again because we can’t find it. At this point I’ll buy whatever I can find.’”

“A dearth of foreign currency exacerbated by collapsing oil prices has led to shortages of imports from toilet paper to car batteries, and helped push annual inflation to 64 percent in November. The lines will persist as long as price controls remain in place, Luis Vicente Leon, director of Caracas-based polling firm Datanalisis, said today in a telephone interview. Government officials met with representatives from supermarket chains today to guarantee supplies, state news agency AVN reported. Interior Minister Carmen Melendez said yesterday that security forces would be sent to food stores and distribution centers to protect shoppers. ‘Don’t fall into desperation — we have the capacity and products for everyone, with calmness and patience. The stores are full,’ she said on state television.”

That’s not what the photos accompanying this article show. Something has gone badly wrong with your economy. If your system works, why the long lines?

The article notes “President Nicolas Maduro last week vowed to implement an economic counter-offensive to steer the country out of recession, including an overhaul of the foreign exchange system. He has yet to provide details. While the main government-controlled exchange sets a rate of 6.3 bolivars per U.S. dollar, the black market rate is as much as 187 per dollar.”

The value of the currency often reflects the competency of the government combined with the productivity of the people. Despite the many problems in the US, the mixed race countries of Central America with their far-left governments are substantially worse. An extreme example of incompetence and an unproductive population would be the nation of Zimbabwe. The government of Zimbabwe had to print 100 trillion dollar notes there by the way to keep up with inflation.

The article continues “Inside a Plan Suarez grocery store yesterday in eastern Caracas, shelves were mostly bare. Customers struggled and fought for items at times, with many trying to skip lines. The most sought-after products included detergent, with customers waiting in line for two to three hours to buy a maximum of two bags. A security guard asked that photos of empty shelves not be taken. Police inside a Luvebras supermarket in eastern Caracas intervened to help staff distribute toilet paper and other products.”

Now what will happen in this country when Obama decides to use his Executive Orders (which John Boehner is too cowardly or complicit to challenge) that will send the economy into a tailspin? Imagine something like giving away free community college educations to everyone with no idea how this will be paid for or Obama declaring that the Obamacare subsidies are “income” on which taxes must be paid, thus giving with one hand and taking away with the other.

But that could never happen in this country, could it? Why worry, just because the Republicans are too cowardly to impeach Obama for failing to uphold current Immigration law and too cowardly to stop the ObamaCare dictate and too cowardly to press the criminal investigations of the IRS, Fast and Furious and any of a dozen other scandals to their logical conclusions?
